The all-new Aston Martin DBX is a first for the brand, founded on the principles of beauty, luxury and driving dynamics.
This also marks a new era for the brand with the DBX bringing exceptional performance, style, and usability to the luxury SUV segment. The DBX has been in the works since its virtual development back in 2015. While this is Aston Martin‘s first take at how a luxury SUV sports car should be like, it doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to dynamic performance, setting a new standard to just how luxury SUVs should be like.
Its entire body is lightweight and stiff, weighing in at only 2,245kg. This is due to the use of bonded aluminium, a construction method that Aston Martin has managed to perfect over the years of development. Its cabin is also highly spacious while still maintaining its premium and plush interior for all five occupants.
At the belly of the beast, you’ll find a 4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, which can also be found in the DB 11 as well as the Vantage. It has 542hp and 700Nm of torque, which is carefully tuned to meet the specific needs of the DBX. Seeing as it is a luxury SUV, you can expect the DBX to fly the moment you step on the gas, and you’re not wrong. It has a top speed of 291kph while going from 0-100kph in just 4.5 seconds.
However, the engine isn’t just restricted to how fast it can go, but also how loud. Its active exhaust system ensures that it can sound refined at one moment and menacing in the next. Its turbocharged V8 also has cylinder deactivation, which will help to enhance fuel economy.
The DBX also works extremely well on various terrains. This is thanks to its all-wheel-drive system with active differentials featuring an active central differential and an electronic rear limited-slip differential (eDiff). It also sports a nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for good measure. To tackle a wide range of terrain, the DBX can be lowered by 50mm or raised by 45mm, giving you a wider range to work with when on different terrains.
Moving on inside, you’ll find that the DBX is the first of its kind with a full-size, five-seater model. It features class-leading interior space with 632-litres of trunk space and with a 40:20:40 split for its foldable rear seats. The cockpit itself is luxuriously designed, providing enough space and comfort for all. The DBX also has a full-length glass panoramic roof as well as frameless door glass. This allows the car to bring in more light while also making it look even more spacious than it already is.
All of its seats are trimmed in sumptuous, full-grain leather from its long-term partner, Bridge of Weir. You can also go for the sports car seat option, which will give the front passengers greater support and comfort when it comes to long-distance driving. On the centre console, you’ll find the large 10.25-inch sits directly at the centre console to give you direct access to the vehicle and its needs while the driver will have an even larger 12.3-inch display. Apple CarPlay comes as standard, as does a 360-degree camera system, and ambient lighting that offers 64 different colours in two zones.
The Aston Martin DBX is available from the base price of RM818,000 (before duties, customisation options, taxes and insurance) and is now available for viewing and booking.
