Over the years, the phrase ‘luxury SUV’ has been thrown around from time to time. Every now and then, a luxury automobile brand will feature a brand new luxury SUV that looks to catapult itself ahead of the pack. Bentley is also part of the rat race with its Bentayga, setting a new landmark in the luxury SUV market. This time, it looks to propel itself forward with the Bentley Bentayga V8.
Aimed at providing a grand touring experience like no other, the Bentley Bentayga V8 comes with all the trimmings of a luxury SUV. This ranges from its performance to its interior and even its character.
Starting off with its exterior, the Bentley Bentayga V8 cuts from the same cloth as the Bentley Bentayga, giving itself a sporty and menacing exterior. True to its off-road nature, the Bentayga V8 sports larger rear haunches with a raised ride height for you to tackle anything off the road. It also houses four round LED headlamps and a large matrix grille.
The Bentley Bentayga V8 will also be the first of its kind to come with optional carbon-ceramic brakes. The braking system in question will be the largest front braking system for any production car while being the largest ever fitted on a Bentley car.
Under the hood of the Bentley Bentayga V8 sits an all-new 4.0-litre, 32 valve V8 engine with dual-scroll turbochargers tucked neatly in the “V” of the engine. This translates to 542bhp with 770Nm of torque, which results in a top speed of 290kph. It also hits the century time in just 4.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest luxury SUVs to do so. The Bentayga V8 also comes with “twin-quad” exhaust tailpipes to complement its new engine specification.
On the inside, the Bentley Bentayga V8 features the brand’s signature intricate detailing with handcrafted precision. This includes a high-gloss carbon-fibre finish to replace its traditional veneer surfaces; a wood and hide steering wheel; and cricket ball red leather.
A myriad of driving assistance features are also readily available like Park Assist, Night Vision, and Heads-Up Display. The infotainment system on the Bentley Bentayga V8 houses an 8-inch touchscreen with a navigation system while rear passengers can opt for a removable 10.2-inch Android tablet that comes connected to the Internet.
There are also three different sound systems to choose from: Bentley Standard Audio, Bentley Signature Audio, and Naim for Bentley Premium Audio. The latter boasts a total of 18 speakers and super tweeters within the car, ensuring that you get the best sound quality imaginable.
Priced at RM1,580,000, the Bentley Bentayga V8 is now in Malaysia and is available for viewing at Bentley Kuala Lumpur.
