Idris Khan is no stranger to the Malaysian modelling industry, and he has recently ventured into acting too, so expect to see more of the handsome lad. At the opening of Sacoor Brothers’ Suria KLCC boutique awhile ago, we had a little chat with Idris and got to know him a bit better.

LifestyleAsia (LSA): Since we’re here at the new Sacoor Brothers store, what do you think about it?

Idris Khan (IK): It’s classy, beautiful and what I wish my wardrobe would be like! There’s so many pieces I’d love to own.

LSA: You’re wearing Sacoor Brothers right now, yes? What do you like about your ensemble today?

IK: I really love how the suit matches my style and fits me like a glove, is totally comfortable and makes me look and feel like a million bucks!

LSA: Who is your style icon, if any?

IK: David Beckham, David Gandy and Mariano Di Vaio.

LSA: How would you describe your personal style?

IK: I’d say I’m pretty simple yet classy and with a little edginess and sexiness, like the guy next door.

LSA: Do you have any favourite daily accessories?

IK: Yes! My dailies include a watch, necklace and something from my cap collection.

LSA: How long do you take to get ready before going to an event?

IK: Hmm, I’d say about an hour or so. It depends because I can be pretty fickle about what to wear, and I end up changing up quite a bit.

LSA: How did you get into acting, and what do you enjoy about it?

IK: I was fortunate enough to have been offered to go into acting during my nine years of modelling, but I somehow always rejected the idea. That’s until a year and a half ago, I decided to try something new and take on new challenges. What I like about acting is the satisfaction I get when the viewers enjoy my acting and give me a double thumbs up!

LSA: What do you do for fun?

IK: Fun for me is travelling, it’s like chicken soup for my soul! I love exploring and learning about new places, cultures and people.

LSA: Where’s your favourite holiday destination so far?

IK: Amsterdam and Rome. Incredibly beautiful cities that I enjoyed very much.

LSA: When it comes to shopping, what’s your favourite items to shop for?

IK: Jeans, watches and shoes. You can never have too many shoes!

LSA: What’s your favourite Malaysian dish?

IK: There are way too many! But I would generalise it by saying… my mum’s cooking!

LSA: What’s your secret to success?

IK: For me it’s to find what you love doing, to ignore the noises and distraction around you no matter who it’s from. It’s about focussing on your goals and hustling hard, real hard. Surrounding yourself with positive people who encourage and help bring you closer to your goals is also important. In a nutshell, less talk and more action.

LSA: How do you keep yourself motivated every day?

IK: It’s not easy sometimes, but I always remind myself that when I’m slacking and being demotivated, there are others who aren’t slacking and are motivated and working their hardest to succeed.

LSA: What’s your workout routine like?

IK: I do about 45 minutes to an hour of cardio, weights exercise and high intensity workout routines, then I top it off with a 15 minutes burn in the sauna!

LSA: Do you cook at home? Otherwise how do you eat healthy while on the go?

IK: Yes, I cook at home as much as I can. I eat healthy by keeping an eye on my calories, avoiding processed foods as best I can, and I’m also lucky enough to have sponsors who provide me with healthy meals.
