Zaida Ibrahim is the founder of cold-pressed juice brand, Impressed, and is set to help build a healthier nation – one juice at a time. We caught up with the health enthusiast and all-round #girlboss Zaida Ibrahim to talk about her inspirations, latest ventures and fragrance picks.
LSA: How would you describe your personal style?
ZI: Classy, feminine & understated.
LSA: Favourite daily accessories?
LSA: Who’s your style icon, if any?
ZI: I love Blake Lively and Amal Clooney.
LSA: Any plans to venture into fashion?
ZI: I just started a small venture called CurateCo. I’m not a designer and hence I don’t design the clothes. Instead I curate them from different sources. It is very much my personal style – things I myself would wear. It’s day to day fashion with a dash of attitude.
LSA: Was there somebody in particular who inspired you to start Impressed?
ZI: There was no one in particular who inspired me to start Impressed. However, my dad is an inspiration to me – his hard work and work ethics has mould me to be who I am today. Prior to Impressed, I was a Corporate Banker in an international bank. I knew since I graduated I wanted to do something on my own but I didn’t know what sector or how. Hence, I think it’s important to gain experience from working with others prior to starting ones business. After seven years of being in the corporate world, I decided it’s time I try it out – I am very much into healthy living and I live it. It was only natural I started something within the wellness industry.
LSA: You mentioned that juice was just a first step in your efforts to create lifestyle products and a lifestyle brand that encourages healthy living. Are there any exciting developments to look out for with Impressed in the near future?
ZI: Yes, thats true. When we first started we only sold juices, then we started selling detox programmes and now we have smoothie bowls and overnight oats. We are looking to expand this year but I don’t want to give out too much! You’ll just have to wait and see. 2017 will be a very interesting year for us.
LSA: Which juice flavour is your personal favourite?
ZI: My personal favourite is G1 which contains spinach, lettuce, celery, cucumber and green apple.
LSA: What do you do for fun?
ZI: I love working out – trying out different activities like tracking, kick boxing etc. I also value time with family and friends, so I would say anything we do together is fun for me.
LSA: Do you cook? If so, what’s your go-to dishes to cook?
ZI: Yes I do! Steam fish with soy sauce and ginger.
LSA: What’s your favourite Malaysian dish?
ZI: Nasi Lemak!
LSA: What’s your favourite workout?
LSA: What’s a typical day in your life like?
ZI: It starts early and ends late! My day starts at 630am as my son has school in the morning. I usually work from home until he comes back from school to sort his lunch, in case he has extra activities. I then will head out for my meetings which is usually held at the store so I can keep an eye on it too. We try very much to have dinner at home daily. After putting my son to sleep, my husband and I would finish some work before ending it with a TV series or movie.
LSA: How important is wearing the right scent to you?
ZI: It is very important to have a scent that suits you. When you walk into a room, they can smell your scent before they even see you. First impression is key! And when you leave, you leave a wonderful scent behind. So i would say it is very important to pick one that suits your personality.
LSA: Favourite kind of scents for your home?
ZI: Fresh and flowery.
LSA: Favourite kind of scents for yourself?
ZI: Feminine – nothing too strong or spicy.
LSA: What do you like about the Dior J’Adore scent? How does it make you feel?
ZI: It is very feminine which reflects my style and personality.
LSA: Where would you wear the Dior J’Adore scent to?
ZI: I would wear it on a daily basis.
