Aesop is launching a trio of candles inspired by ancient astronomy

Light up your world and make it smell good too.

Australian skincare brand Aesop, which took the world by storm with its brown bottles and deliciously fragranced products has finally launched a candle collection. The trio of aromatic candles, named Ptolemy, Aganice and Callippus are inspired by ancient astronomy and said to “impart a sophisticated yet subtle fragrance.”

Ptolemy for instance sees cypress, cedar and vetiver in its formulation while Aganice deploys the warm spicy notes of cardamom and tobacco into the floral brightness of mimosa. The third, Callippus, sees resinous frankincense coalesce with the earthiness of vetiver and the sharpness of shiso.

These are created in collaboration with perfumer Barnabé Fillion — the same nose behind Aesop’s three perfumes Marrakech, Hwyl and Rozu.

“As is customary in our partnership with Barnabé, scientific rigour worked hand-in-hand with ardent intellectual curiosity and tradition with innovation,” said Dr Kate Forbes, the company’s Innovation Director.

While the candles are Aesop’s first of its kind and long requested for by its fanatic base of customers, it joins the brand’s growing collection of home care products. That includes oil burner blends and room sprays.

The candles will be available from 5 October 2020. For more information, head to Aesop.com.
