Dolce & Gabbana and Smeg’s new range of smaller appliances are no less artful

Let’s be honest. At some point in life, you’d dream of having a $50,000 fridge in your home. Imagine it being the star of the kitchen, as your guests are green with envy just simply marvelling at a piece of art. And what better way to upgrade the kitchen with the hallmark of Dolce & Gabbana in a form of Smeg appliances?

Now, hold that thought.

One of the 100 fridges from the exclusive collaborative collection.

The collaboration between Italian brands Dolce & Gabbana and Smeg has been going on for the last three years. In 2016, the iconic Italian brands have collaborated to produce 100 beautifully hand-painted fridges – all individually designed and meticulously detailed with vibrant colours. With each fridge taking over 240 hours to complete, it is no wonder why there are only a couple of these limited edition collectors’ pieces left since its introduction barely two years ago.

Each colourful artpiece is meticulously painted by talented Italian artisans.

Extending the ‘Made in Italy’ efforts to celebrate family tradition and local heritage preservation, Dolce & Gabbana and Smeg have together launched a new series of smaller kitchen appliances.

Dubbed “Sicily Is My Love”, the collection is patterned with colourful interpretations of Sicilian folklore and leitmotifs such as lemons, cherries, cartwheels and battle scenes.

Lemons and cherries don the kettle in style.

The new collaborative line includes kitchen essentials like toasters, juicers, coffee machines, kettles, blenders and mixers. There are five prints in all, ranging from fruits, florals and landscapes of the island, as well as the famous Sicilian trinacria. With Smeg bring at the forefront of kitchenware technology, we are sure that the range of products combines state of the art technology with the joy of Sicilian aesthetics.

Happily, each item is priced at $600 each. Fans of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana can rejoice for the fact that their elaborate designs to a collection of chic kitchen appliances are much more affordable than their ready-to-wear. Or at least for once, let’s give the kitchen a chance to shine.
