Chloe Grace Moretz has never been photographed without makeup on. This is precisely why her recent project with SK-II – #BareSkinProject – is one of her biggest challenges yet. Nervous at first, but after weeks of using SK-II‘s Facial Treatment Essence, her skin is ready to take on the challenge.
The 21-year-old flaunts her flawlessly glowing skin – completely bare – in a collection of photographs captured by Christopher Anderson. And this time, she has nothing to hide. We take a closer look at Chloe’s crystal clear skin in these exclusive behind-the-scenes images.
The #BareSkinProject is one of the biggest movements by SK-II, encouraging women of every age and ethnicity to feel beautiful and confident without any makeup — in a world that believes otherwise. Six celebrity muses, including Chloe Grace Moretz, were chosen to take up the same challenge — to be photographed with completely bare skin — purely powered by SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence. Chun Xia, Kasumi Arimura, Mayu Matsuoka, Ni Ni and Tang Wei also came together to show support for this movement.
“It’s still unconventional to see female celebrities photographed bare skin, and through the #BareSkinProject, we hope to provide a different point of view,” says Sandeep Seth, CEO, Global SK-II. “We are proud to partner with six brave personalities who share the same goal. We hope their authentic journeys with Facial Treatment Essence will inspire women all over the world to embrace their natural bare skin beauty.”
Their journey with SK-II has been recorded and photographed by Magnum Photos’ photographers, Christopher Anderson, Alessandra Sanguinetti and Jim Goldberg. Each of the actresses may come from different background and culture, but to own that level of confidence while being photographed bare-faced is what made this campaign so successful.
“It was so refreshing to hear about a campaign that aims to embrace women’s natural beauty and spark a movement of authenticity and confidence,” concurs the American starlet. “I knew that this was a perfect fit for me and what I represent.”
Weeks before the big shoot with Christopher, the American actress prepped her skin day and night with the Facial Treatment Essence. “I felt that SK–II’s Facial Treatment Essence has 100% helped — I wake up with a natural tone and glow to my complexion. It has given me clear and glowing skin which made me feel so much more confident on set.”
Chloe has nothing but positive notes to share on her exciting experience shooting for this campaign. From the video shoot to working with Christopher and Alessandra, each shoot has been very different and multi-faceted. “It was nice to be able to show my bare skin journey through the short film that showcases the whole shooting experience with the two photographers – Christopher and Alessandra. Both of them were really professional and fun to work with and I really enjoyed the process.”
She adds: “I think it’s great that a massive brand like SK–II is backing real raw beauty and allowing me to be completely bare skin and show who I am to the world on a global campaign level which I think is so shocking, incredible and exciting. It’s the right step forward in 2018 and personally, it felt very invigorating and freeing.”
This may be a star-studded project but the main lead behind that crystal clear skin is the Facial Treatment Essence. An iconic product, its Pitera formula that has remained unchanged for decades is adored and loved by millions across the globe. This essence is formulated with over 90% Pitera, a natural bio-ingredient containing over 50 micro-nutrients that are highly beneficial for the skin. It conditions the skin, locks in moisture and soothes the skin that is constantly exposed to damaging pollutants. The Facial Treatment Essence transforms five dimensions of your skin to give you a clear radiating skin like Chloe’s.
Chloe expresses a renewed conviction with her new ‘skin’, saying: “I felt very confident after the shoot and I think even more so, I would wear my bare skin as a badge of honour now.”
