Two different cuisines coming together may give uncertain results, but with the addition of the Chivas 18 Regal — it creates the most harmonious blend of flavours.

One is focused on representing the diverse flavours of Malaysian cuisine, while the other aims to introduce progressive Japanese casual dining to Malaysia. Beta KL and Kikubari are both unique in their own respective ways; plating up dishes that you will not find in any other eateries.

Perhaps one may see that the only similarity between these two establishments is they both focus on Asian cuisine. But diving in deeper, the core values of the restaurants are surprisingly similar. They both agree on the importance of ingredients: the way it is sourced, cooked and plated. “Two different-background chefs, with different experiences. We tried to create a dish but we managed to agree on something quite quickly. What we have in common is that we focus on the ingredients”, says Chef Raymond, co-founder and head chef of Beta KL.

For the dish to be great, we as chefs are just there to highlight the ingredients and make it the star of the dish. The dish is not about us — it’s about the ingredients.
