10 gowns to say I do in from Bernard Chandran’s first bridal collection

Some women have been dreaming of having a fairytale wedding. And while others opt to look regal in a vintage wedding gown, there are a couple of brides-to-be who dare to wear a bridal jumpsuit instead of a traditional white dress on their big day. Renowned home-grown fashion designer Dato’ Sri Bernard Chandran has got your back covered in the styling front.

Presenting his first ever bridal collection earlier this month, the Malaysian King of Fashion finally branched out to wedding gowns bearing his signature luxe designs in eastern cultural tones and modern embellishments. His unique designs are constructed using magnificent textures and majestic train lengths, which are adorned with pearl or crystal embellishments and silver beaded embroidery.

“I take on the challenge and push the envelope of the ideal gown for my customers,” said Chandran. Aside from intricately embroidered bodice, open back cuts, hand-painted satin and tiered lace skirts, we also love the red, blue, and black colours against a palette of white, off-white, and champagne gold.

Check out our 10 favourite picks perfect for brides who wish to pull off fairytale, vintage, and contemporary looks when they walk down the aisle.

Ditch traditional long wedding dresses with a below-the-knee one. We absolutely love that this vintage attire comes with a matching short veil. Hemmed with thick Guipure lace, it lends a vintage appeal to the pleated number.

Nothing can make a  fashion statement more than picking a black satin wedding gown for your big day. One of the contemporary pieces featured in the collection, elegant beadwork creates the illusion of texture on this otherwise plain dress.
