Another big event, another glamorous red carpet session. With fashion week done and dusted, now it’s time for artistes and celebrities to take centre stage (or carpet) and show the globe what’s in and what’s not. The 2018 American Music Awards just ended a couple of hours ago and Taylor Swift walked away happy as one of the biggest winners of the night, including snatching the Artist of the Year trophy.

Speeches and performances aside, the red carpet was as expected — full of glam. Sheer and nearly-naked dresses were on a low tide this season and so were form-fitting dresses. Most of the celebrities went for something more flowy and free, while some compromised by pairing fitted top but a voluminous bottom — like Cardi B‘s floral gown that came with a complete ornate headpiece to match.

There were also matching bodysuits, lots of low v-neck dresses but glittery, shimmery pieces were the ones that took over this red carpet. Sparkle and sequins were seen multiple times during SS18 Fashion Week and it was indeed a refreshing twist compared to the normal floral prints for summer. Fashion labels such as Fendi, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Halpern and Tom Ford had sequined and shimmery pieces down the runway early this year, and that trend continued to live on. These sparkling looks could also be your next style inspiration for your yearend countdown party.

It’s not just sequins that could make a dress sparkle. Taylor Swift’s Balmain silver dress comprised little square holographic pieces that definitely shone bright like a disco ball, and she had boots to match. Amber Head’s long gown had chainmail-like texture across the dress, which also bling-ed under the spotlight.
