5 rainbow pieces we loved from the Burberry February 2018 collection

When Christopher Bailey’s 17-year tenure at Burberry came to an end, we were shocked, to say the least. From thereon, things moved quickly and the Burberry February 2018 collection was slated to be his final one. Determined to go out with a bang, this collection recently showcased in London was spectacular and showcased something new: the Rainbow check.

Burberry has always been known for its iconic check prints, and the Rainbow check was Bailey’s personal interpretation of it, dedicated to the LGBTQ+ communities. Other than the Rainbow check making several appearances on the runway, the rainbow motif was also prevalent in other fashion pieces from the Burberry February 2018 collection.

“My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to – and in support of – some of the best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world,” said Bailey.

“There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength and our creativity.”

Set against a multisensory installation in collaboration with United Visual Artists (UVA), the runway was made to look as though the models were walking through the passage of time. The installation’s swinging pendulums according to the rhythm of the show’s soundtrack was initially haunting, then upbeat and hopeful.

Rainbow Stripe Maxi Skirt

Hankering for a rainbow motif that doesn’t scream out at people? We love this rainbow striped skirt. Mostly white with a strip of rainbow, this flouncy maxi skirt brings to mind the vision of a ball gown but with more sass. Pair with a casual top to play out the high-low style.
