For the 18th year running, Pantone’s Colour of the Year announcement has always been one to look forward to. The colours are chosen not without in-depth consideration. It takes two days of presentations and debates before a colour is chosen as the one for the following year, inspired by current ideals and beliefs around the world.
One of the notable colours of the year was probably in 2016, where not one but two colours were selected: Rose Quartz and Serenity, a nod towards gender equality. For 2017, we saw Greenery as the Pantone Colour of the Year, a rejuvenating colour that promised reassurance amidst a haphazard social environment.
This year, it has been announced that the 2018 Pantone’s Colour of the Year is a purplish hue of Ultra Violet, inspired by the cosmos and a colour that communicates visionary thinking towards the future. While millennial pink or hot pink may be a little challenging to pull off in a men’s wardrobe, Ultra Violet will be a fairly easy incorporation.
True, most men may not yet have many purple items in their wardrobe, which is why we’re here to show you the visionary future of Ultra Violet and how you can incorporate it into your daily style. From bigger pieces such as jackets to accessories, here are seven fashion items with the 2018 Pantone’s Colour of the Year.
