Since the late 1970s, butterflies have been the signature motif of Bottega Veneta. Appearing in many of their past collections, including the famous Knot clutch, the butterfly has now been redesigned and applied to a series of leather goods by Creative Director Thomas Maier. The best part? This newfangled butterfly collection is exclusive to Asia.

It is Maier’s fresh, feminine take on the Bottega butterfly. Avoiding the logo-forward bag trend, Maier has instead opted to let this identifiable emblem do the talking. Appearing in soft pinks, mauves and orange, the delicate appliqués are inspired by drawings in a Japanese book. The latest butterfly collection will see renditions of the Baby Olimpia and the Cabat bags receive this decorative treatment.

The Cabat, which is exclusive to Hong Kong and Taiwan, comes redone in woven Mallow Nappa leather, with 58 butterflies arranged on each. Every bag takes a craftsman three entire days to complete.

If you’d like to get your hands on an exquisitely crafted Baby Olimpia, perhaps for Mother’s Day, the collection is currently available at Bottega Veneta’s ION Orchard boutique.
