What will Maria Grazia Chiuri have in store for us this time?
As announced earlier at the end of June, Dior’s Cruise 2021 collection will be debuted on a real-life runway show, which is set to be held at 8:45pm on 22 July in Lecce, Italy (2:45am on 23 July, local Malaysia time).
Though the enchanting haute couture video presentation by Dior was well-received, it has not dimmed the house’s determination to make its way back to the established fashion calendar, starting with the Cruise 2021 season.
Initially planned for 24 May, the Cruise 2021 fashion show was postponed due to mandatory quarantine requirements set out by the government. Months later, as confirmed cases subsided in both Italy and France and businesses started to cautiously reopen, the house is moving forward to present the Cruise 2021 collection on a real-life fashion show, set to be staged at the Piazza del Duomo in Lecce, Italy on 22 July (or 23 July, for all of us in Malaysia).
“Fashion Week is important not only for the fashion family, it’s also important for the cities where the fashion shows [take place],” Maria Grazia Chiuri explained, in an interview with WWD, the decision for going forward with a show. “Many of them didn’t know and still do not know how to survive. We wanted to give them a reason to have hope, a reason to restart,” said Pietro Beccari, president and CEO of Christian Dior Couture.
Even so, to keep in line with the social distancing rules currently in effect in the Puglia region of Italy, the Cruise show will be audience-free and will, instead, be broadcasted live across the globe.
We will be bringing you the live stream right here, so you can discover the brand new collection at the exact same time and the same way as every journalist, buyer, and influencer around the world. So make sure you set your alarms and come back here to witness the debut of Dior’s brand new Cruise 2021 collection.
