As we’re still recovering from post-KLFW, the fashion industry is still spinning with new releases. Our current fashion obsessions range from functional bags which you can personalise to your own liking for the ladies and a pair of suede loafers for the gentlemen.
In the midst of the fashion frenzy, the world bids goodbye to the Queen of soul, Aretha Franklin who has passed at the age of 76 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She may be known as a groundbreaking artist, but the singer was also one of the biggest style icons of her time. She was the first coloured woman to be featured on the cover of Time Magazine in 1968 and even fought for fashion diversity in 1980s. Read all about it here.
If you are already feeling inspired by Aretha Franklin’s timeless styles you’d wear in a heartbeat, pair them with some of the latest releases in fashion. Read on for more current fashion obsessions.
Anya Hindmarch’s Maxi Vere Satchel
It’s big and slouchy, designed for you to put every single necessity you need when you’re on the go. This is the latest addition to the growing Vere collection by Anya Hindmarch, thus you would find the signature contrasting lining and labelled pockets. Speaking of pockets, they are definitely aplenty. Labelled ‘an organisational dream’, there is one front pocket that is labelled ‘Phone’, three pockets labelled ‘Cards’, and two pockets at the back for ‘Bits’ and ‘Bobs’ — so there are literally spaces for everything.
Virgil Abloh x Nike x Serena Williams
Seems like Virgil Abloh is now getting his creative hands into sportswear again. Serena Williams will be returning to the US Open later this month, and she will be all decked out in Nike‘s Queen collection, that is specially designed for her by the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men. The collection includes a bomber jacket, two dresses, three sneakers and a bag — described by the designer himself as “blurring the lines of sport and fashion”.
Ermenegildo Zegna’s Black Suede Moccasins
As seen throughout the collection and reinterpreted in many ways and designs, the XXX Couture logo is a symbol of the manual craft of Ermenegildo Zegna. These Black Suede Moccasins feature the recognisable logo right on top with a round toe front, finished off with vicuna coloured lining and a leather sole. The Mocassino XXX is also available in deerskin, both in four different colours: black, dark brown, light brown and blue.
Coach x Selena Gomez
After their first successful collaboration last fall (which is the Selena Grace bag), followed by customised dresses for the Met Gala, finally we’re seeing more from Selena Gomez and Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers — and it’s a whole collection of ready-to-wear items. The collection includes everything from bags to small leather goods, and silk slips to hoodies, the overall theme is designed according to her aesthetics’ and powerful feminine spirit. The singer also added her unique touches to the collection, including an empowering personal motto written in her handwriting, “Not perfect, Always me”. The Coach x Selena Gomez collection will be released in September 2018.
