It has been and will be a very happening month in the world of fashion as Fashion Week commences in New York this week, then London and Milan in the coming weeks. With the unveiling of Celine’s new logo and the 75th Venice Film Festival where singer-cum-actress Lady Gaga bedazzled in a pink Valentino Couture dress for her “A Star is Born” premiere, the week doesn’t just stop there. With NYFW currently ongoing, we’re very sure that our list of favourites will continue to grow. So before we dive into that, here are our current fashion obsessions that are making headlines worldwide.
Celine’s New Logo
Longtime friend of Hedi Slimane, Lady Gaga first teased us with the first Celine bag designed by her. The structured leather bag with gold clasp was seen on Lady Gaga’s Instagram, even with no caption, many soon found out it being Slimane’s first release ever. Days later, the new Celine logo was introduced on their official Instagram account — and currently, there is nothing else but three videos and one image of her logo. One noticeable difference was the missing “é”, and reviews from the reveal have been mixed so far. Some loving the new aesthetics even though it’s actually “directly inspired by the original, historical, version that existed in the 1960s,” as explained in the videos, but some felt that the accent-less logo has lost its originality that many have grown to know and love.
Versace Anatomia Sneakers
As the name suggests, Versace‘s new sneakers are inspired by the human anatomy. Salehe Bembury designed the shape of the sole silhouette of the Anatomia sneakers to follow the shapes and contours of the human body. The midsole resembles the form of human muscles, while the outsole is in a leopard pattern that spells out “Versace” — advancing on the sock sneaker silhouette as well. The new sneakers are available in three variants: black with Versus logo on the side, pink, and checkboard print-like pattern.
Chiara Ferragni’s Dior wedding dress and evening gown
Dubbed as the royal Italian wedding, Chiara Ferragni (aka Blonde Salad) and now husband, Fedex tied the knot early this month at Dimora delle Balze, Italy. Apart from Coachella-inspired after party and sea of lights display during the dinner reception, Chiara Ferragni’s custom-made wedding dress and evening gowns were the ones that took the cake. The wedding dress, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri of Dior, took up 400 metres of fabric and more than 1,600 hours of work, while the evening gown was embroidered with motifs and words that evoke the couple’s history together. She also appeared in a shorter ballet-inspired style version of the pale pink tulle dress.
Loewe’s Mini Gate bag
This season, we’re seeing more additions to the ever-growing Loewe Gate bag family — two in fact. The Mini Gate bag was first seen on the runway at LOEWE’s women’s show in March, still retaining the original design with its knotted front-belt and the metallic side hinge-pin, but in a much smaller size. While the Gate Top-Handle is a more structured and spacious rendition of the bag, and it comes in two sizes. For those who still prefer the existing Gate and small Gate styles, there will be more colours and new material combinations just for you.
