It was past midnight when we first heard — H&M designer collaboration this year is with Giambattista Valli. And that pink puffy dress, in particular, is still making its round across social media — a sign that this collection is highly-anticipated and one that will definitely fly off the shelves the moment it launches. This doesn’t come as a surprise to us — in fact, this is the first time H&M has collaborated with a designer that specialises in couture.

“Giambattista is really a master when it comes to beauty and glamour and sophistication, we’re really happy to be working with him. We always want to have different takes on the collaborations. This is different compared to Moschino last year. It’s the first time we’re working with someone doing couture”
H&M’s creative advisor, Ann-Sofie Johansson told Vogue
Giambattista Valli and Ann-Sofie Johansson attended tonight´s amfAR gala in Cannes together with Kendall Jenner, Chris Lee (Li Yuchun), Chiara Ferragni, H.E.R., Bianca Brandolini d’Adda and Ross Lynch dressed in looks from the limited Giambattista Valli x H&M pre-drop collection.

Project Love is the name of this special collaboration, consisting of ballgowns and feminine pieces that we usually see on models and celebrities at red carpet events, but now we, the common folk, have a chance to actually wear them. “The idea is to bring the Valli DNA of extraordinary, of one-of-a-kind, of uniqueness, of couture. We have our fans and they see all these beautiful moments on the red carpet, Valli girls at official events. It’s a nice way to share this flavour with them”, Valli said.

That’s not all. The collection includes accessories, and for the first time ever, menswear — this is a first for Valli to design for the gents. “The Valli boys get prints, some shapes, some materials, and some embellishments from girls—they took it from her wardrobe.”

Ballgowns and feminine pieces, it's like a princess fantasy.
A first for Giambattista Valli, the new collection will include menswear.

There will be a two-part launch to this collection. You can shop the looks above at the pre-drop launch happening on the 25th of May 2019. It’s not available in the stores across Malaysia, but you can purchase them on their website from 4.00 pm onwards. The main collection launches worldwide on 7th November 2019.
