Let’s face it: wet weather footwear isn’t always the most stylish. And it’s hardly worth the risk stepping out in the rain with a pair that actually is — but that’s exactly what Louis Vuitton wants you to do.

The French fashion house has unveiled “Rain”, a new shoe capsule collection comprising its beloved styles (such as the Archlight sneaker) made with 100 percent rubber, which means they’re completely waterproof.

The collection updates three shoes in particular: the Silhouette ankle boot, which features a flower-shaped heel; the biker-inspired Rhapsody ankle boot; and, of course, the sporty Archlight sneakers. The first two come with a glossy finish, while the sneakers boast a classic matte veneer.

The rubber shoes will be available in neutral colours like black, white and khaki, but there’s also a pair of Silhouette boots in bubblegum pink if you want to show off.

Besides being completely waterproof, another highlight of the “Rain” collection is that it introduces yet another version of Louis Vuitton’s signature sneakers. Since debuting on the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018 runway, the futuristic sneakers designed by Nicolas Ghesquière have gone on to become a streetwear staple favoured by the likes of Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber and Mary-Kate Olsen.

It has also taken many forms: Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2019 collection saw the runners transformed into statement above-the-knee and ankle boots. The latter silhouette has clearly stuck, nodding to one of our 2020 sneaker trends.

The Archlight sneaker’s waterproof update also means that you can pretty much wear them anywhere (we’re looking at the famously rainy Glastonbury music festival, especially) without worrying about ruining them. That’s a sneakerhead’s wet dream, if there ever was one.

The “Rain” collection drops on January 17 and will be available in Louis Vuitton stores and on its website. The whole range of shoes will also be available at the Marina Bay Sands Island Maison, with prices starting from $1,280.

In the words of Yaeji: make it rain, girl.
