Moncler has announced creative partnerships with both JW Anderson and Rimowa.
The luxury brand’s ‘Moncler Genius’ concept has recruited the Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson (of the label JW Anderson) to work on a gender-neutral clothing line that Moncler teases “offers a modern interpretation of masculinity and femininity through cross-pollination of menswear and womenswear.”
“I really admire what Moncler has achieved with Genius and with the brand as a whole, how they articulate technology in a revolutionary way,” Anderson told WWD of his latest project. “It’s just incredible, and I’m really excited about it.”
As for Rimowa, Moncler has tapped the luggage brand to collaborate on a conceptual project called “Reflection,” designed to showcase “novel innovations in technology, connectivity and communication in the digital age,” and offer users the chance to communicate with the wider world.
The house has also been channelling its outdoorsy spirit through a collaborative project with Mate.Bike, in the form of an electrical bike designed for extreme mountainous and snowy terrains. All three collaborations will be revealed during Milan Fashion Week on February 19, as part of the wider Moncler Genius 2020 showcase.
The Moncler Genius series, pioneered by the house’s CEO and creative director Remo Ruffini, debuted in 2018. It has since launched capsule collections created in partnership with other fashion brands and designers, such as Pierpaolo Piccioli and Craig Green.
