Quirky sunglasses that go beyond sun protection

Sunglasses may be labelled as a fashion accessory, but its purpose purely lies as an eye protector against sun glares and UV rays. However, that does not limit these fashion designers to come up with unconventional and quirky sunglasses designs for the market. And they go beyond conventions with some of the most bizarre eyepieces the world has ever witnessed.

We have the classics: aviators, cat-eye, rectangular, and round frames that everyone adores. Perhaps nothing could go wrong with them. With an easy guide like this, finding the perfect pair that complements your face shape could be relatively easy. But somehow the guide doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to these quirky designs.

Don’t take our word for it on how unique they are — have you seen Dior’s popular visor-cum-sunglasses? Just continue on reading and you’ll understand what we are talking about.

Gentle Monster's Hacker Zack 02(G)

A part of their capsule collection, this single-lens frame is definitely one-of-a-kind. The lens covers more than half of the face, with a rounded metal nose pad in the centre. It may take quite a bit of effort to put on as compared to regular sunglasses, as there’s a metal clasp that goes around the lips too.

Dior's Diorclub1 Visor

No, we’re not playing tricks on you. This pair from Dior is a visor-cum-sunglasses that shield both your face and eyes from the sun. Maria Grazia Chiuri took inspiration from artist Niki de Saint Phalle during “Tirs” and designed this perfect hybrid of visor and sunglasses. The visor features ‘J’Adior’ on the front, and the branding ‘Christian Dior’ on the rear elastic band.

Giorgio Armani's D’Artiste

People will be seeing flowers in your eyes with this pair on. The sunglasses take on a foundation of a classic round shape with an ultra-light metal frame, but the lens is an oversized floral patterned mirrored piece akin to rose-windows of Gothic cathedrals. Available in three colours: pale gold frame with brown gradient floral lenses, gunmetal frame with navy floral lenses, and rose gold frame with pink floral lenses.
