Rodarte is strengthening its ties with Cole Haan by teaming up with the footwear and lifestyle brand on a vibrant fashion collaboration. The luxury fashion house’s founders Laura and Kate Mulleavy have put their label’s signature aesthetic on Cole Haan’s ‘Grand Ambition’ collection of footwear and handbags, launching this September.
The drop spans pumps, booties, slip-on sneakers, satchels and circle bags in a playful colour palette of pinks, reds and neutrals. A further release has been scheduled for November, featuring a soft, romantic colour palette and silhouettes embellished with perforated hearts and bows.
“The ethos of Cole Haan speaks to everything that we do,” said Kate Mulleavy in a statement. “When you’re designing it’s always about innovating and trying to think outside the box to create something new and create a dream that you take people into.”
“Kate and Laura’s independent spirit is singular in the world of fashion,” added David Maddocks, Cole Haan’s Chief Marketing Officer & GM of Business Development. “In their capable hands, Cole Haan and Rodarte, together, have delivered an alchemy that blends beauty and engineering in a way that hasn’t been achieved before.”
Rodarte hit the headlines earlier this month after it opted out of putting on a traditional fashion presentation during New York Fashion Week. Instead, the label unveiled a dreamy portrait series to showcase its Spring/Summer 2020 designs, featuring a raft of famous faces including Kirsten Dunst, January Jones and Gabrielle Union.
