Gucci releases yet another pair of chunky sneakers for its Fall/Winter 2018 collection, and this time around it sports the SEGA font. This is not the first time we’ve seen the iconic gaming symbol as it last made its appearance on the Spring/Summer 2018 collection’s Guccy bag.
Amidst the sea of chunky dad shoes, what makes this particular pair stand out? It’s priced at US$1,430 — approximately RM5,500.
This time around, the sneakers don’t carry the “Guccy” lettering. Instead, the Gucci logo is emblazoned on the tongue of the sneakers in the SEGA font. The design of the shoe is bold, to say the least. The signature bulky look is made up of leather, suede, mesh, and plenty of rubber. The icing on the cake is the crystal-studded strap that crisscrosses the footwear — just in case you want to make a grand entrance to a party.
The chunky sneaker trend has been going strong since last year, and Gucci is no stranger to it. Its creative director Alessandro Michele brought about sneakers that were not only chunky but also had the scuffed, worn-in look. As the seasons wore on, Michele made the shoes bigger and better. From Cruise 2018’s collection that had the Gucci logo slapped on an all-white sneaker to this season’s all-out bling, it doesn’t look like he’s stopping anytime soon.
Should you be interested, these unisex bejewelled shoes are rumoured to be priced at US$1,430. That’s a pretty steep price even for designer sneaker standards, so if you have some spare cash lying around, you know where to spend it.
