The market for streetwear face masks are booming, and it’s all thanks to COVID-19.
2020 has been ravaged by the global pandemic, which has since forced everyone into a different way of living. Face masks, in particular, have become the latest fashion trend of the year. This has resulted in a shortage of face masks, especially for our frontliners who need it more than we do.
Of course, leave it to the hypebeasts to find a loophole with their streetwear face masks. The likes of Bape and Off-White are just some of the names that already have face mask accessories in their collections, which are probably going for so much more now on the resale market. Come to think of it, regular face masks would probably cost the same given the scarcity of it.
A quick look at online retail sites like StockX will show you just how much you’d have to pay for a streetwear face mask these days. To make matters worse, these face masks aren’t made to protect you against viral infections. These face masks were made for chasing the clout, which is what many resellers are going for these days as nobody wants to buy sneakers.
But that won’t stop millennials, who are willing to pay a small fortune just to have some clout on their social media. This is evident via a quick search on Instagram. We can’t stress enough that you should be wearing medical-grade face masks to ensure you don’t contract anything.
