We remember waking up to days where her ponytail made headlines (circa 2015) — which is questionable but that’s how the celebrity and fashion world is. One day the internet would be flooded with images of how her hair is tied, another would be about her music and occasionally, her dating life would be thrown into the mix. Ariana Grande is not someone new in the spotlight, but her name is appearing quite often as of lately because of her Sweetener tour. And the most recent news? She’s now the new face of Givenchy — or Arivenchy, which they now call it.
It was relatively easy to guess when Givenchy released teasers on their social media: silhouette of a person with a ponytail — of course. Grande then confirmed the news herself by reposting the same video and images on her own Instagram account. Looking identical to a Breakfast at Tiffany’s scene, she was dressed and styled after one of Givenchy’s original muse, Audrey Hepburn, with pearl-embellished headband and the identical cross-back black dress. “It is with great excitement that the House of Givenchy reveals its new face – a strong, independent woman of refreshing character and style: the multi-talented Ariana Grande,” the brand posted on their Instagram.
As the news sunk in, there’s no denying that it comes to a surprise for us as the singer-songwriter is always seen in Versace (most of her outfits on tour are designed by the brand). However, Givenchy’s list of muses such as Madonna, Julia Roberts and Beyonce all have strong character and individuality, which also suited Grande’s character.
“A modern muse and the voice of a generation, Ariana has emerged as one of the most influential forces in pop culture today. A Grammy award-winning performer, songwriter and singer, she naturally embodies the spirit of the Givenchy woman with impertinence, generosity and a lightning wit — all cloaked in a touch of mystery.”
Grande’s style has definitely flourished throughout the years. She gained fame and Hollywood recognition after being starred in a television series for young adults, which eventually turned to a singing career once she discovered her calling. So imagine young and fun Ariana Grande with bright red hair in the cutest tops and bright coloured dresses, evolved to a style that is slightly more provocative with form-fitting short dresses and sky-high heels. Basically, from tea floral dresses to bedazzled body suits with multiple cut-outs. She’s also no stranger to streetwear, sporting oversized hoodies paired with thigh high boots from the likes of Gucci and Giuseppe Zanotti.
