Tommy Hilfiger and Lewis Hamilton spotlighted inclusivity and sustainability during London Fashion Week over the weekend with the launch of their new TommyXLewis collection.
The PVH Corp-owned brand’s Spring 2020 fashion show saw the British Formula One racing champion Hamilton unveil his fourth collaborative series with the fashion label, including a 12-piece TommyXLewisXH.E.R. collection crafted with the help of the Grammy Award-winning singer H.E.R.
The show, which took place at the London landmark the Tate Modern, was the seventh edition of the roving ‘TommyNow’ concept show, which works on a ‘see now buy now’ basis that allows fashion fans all over the world to shop the collection immediately after its catwalk reveal. Iconic models including Naomi Campbell, Winnie Harlow and Lottie Moss took to the catwalk to showcase the collection.
Loyalty was one of the key themes of this collection, with Tommy Hilfiger stating: “This season celebrates loyalty: to who you are, what you believe in, and where you want to go.” In a nod to inclusivity and diversity, the TommyXLewis and TommyXLewisXH.E.R. collections will run in extended sizing to fit a range of body types, while the ‘Hilfiger Collection’ saw parallel menswear and womenswear pieces debuted, to encourage the sharing of wardrobe staples across genders.
Sustainability was another major point: the TommyXLewis collection was the collaboration’s most environmentally-friendly series to date, with over 75% of styles sourced more sustainably and featuring 100% organic cotton, recycled materials and low-impact denim washes.
