With the New York Fashion Week 2019 show officially kicking off over the weekend, we have been bowled over by the Spring/Summer 2020 collections that have been showcased. But by far the most fun runway setup went to the Tommy x Zendaya show, where actress Zendaya presented her highly-anticipated second collection in collaboration with American fashion designer, Tommy Hilfiger.
This marked the first time the brand has brought its TommyNow presentation back to New York since 2016, and the duo decided to host the see-now, buy-now Fall 2019 collection at the loading dock behind Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theater, transforming the site into a street lined with historic Harlem townhouses, complete with vintage convertibles filled with musicians and live performers.
The second TommyxZendaya line continues to celebrate inclusivity, diversity and empowerment, and involved an almost all-black lineup of models cast in all ages and sizes. The collection itself, meanwhile, was dominated by a sultry ’70s-inspired aesthetic featuring sharp suits, polka dot neck tie blouses, houndstooth coats, wide-brimmed fedoras, and head-to-toe leather ensembles, filled with prints and rich textures aiming to redefine power dressing at its very core.
The TommyxZendaya collection is now available for purchase at Tommy Hilfiger’s retail stores or online, where fans will be welcomed by a new virtual reality commerce experience that takes you around the show space in New York.
