We don’t really need an excuse for a party, and cocktail parties are our favourite in particular. These days, however, cocktails parties can be anything from low-key soirées to full on black tie events, it can be a little confusing to decide what exactly your host expects you to wear. Do not be afraid to break traditional cocktail attire rules (fashion is all about making a statement, right?), but make sure you are dressing up appropriately for the season and kind of event. To help you look ultra glam, we have put together 10 looks for you to wear to your next social.
The little black dress
One can never go wrong with an LBD. Show off your décolletage with this sexy number by Rosetta Getty and combine it with sleek gold accessories like these Erickson Beamon earrings and Jimmy Choo clutch. The Saint Laurent sandals are your finishing touch to an ultra-chic look.
Feel like a supermodel in this Alexander Wang embellished lizard effect leather skirt and midriff-baring Attico wrap top. The Tom Ford embellished sandals will make your legs look longer underneath that sexy skirt, while the Alaia clutch adds a touch of metallic chic to your ensemble.
Going in nude
…but not like you would think — we’re talking about the colour palette. Accentuate that beach-vacation bronze (before it fades) with nude and dusty pink colours. We love this crisp Dion Lee mini dress paired with nude Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. Put on the Ryan storer pearl drop earrings, pick up the poudre Valentino shoulder bag and you’re ready to walk out the door.
The fashion mister
Most men don’t break away from the classic black, grey and blue when it comes to cocktail parties. Turn heads with this burgundy Gucci blazer paired with a white Tom Ford shirt and navy trousers from Canali. Slip on the coffee-coloured Berluti loafers and you’re right as rain.
There is nothing sexier than a woman in a suit, and we love when she knows how to “girl” it up. Throw on this black Saint Laurent blazer over Ann Demeulemeester wide leg pants, and slink it up with a sexy Calvin Klein cropped top underneath. The black Saint Laurent shoulder bag and Givenchy platform sandals (wishlist!) complete the look.
There’s nothing like a deep blue suit to really make an impression. A sharp white shirt from Ermenegildo Zegna will create a stark contrast to the navy hue of the Boglioli blazer and trousers. Class up the look with a Gucci pocket square, and finish it off with brown George Cleverley loafers.
Define those curves with this pencil skirt with ruffle trim from Opening Ceremony. The black off-shoulder Alix Baxter bodysuit will add to flaunting your shape as well as your shoulders. Finish off the look with Jimmy Choo sandals, and give this monochrome ensemble a dash of colour with a turquoise micro-leather Fendi bag.
