This summer, switch up your kicks and take your boat shoes out for a walk.
What was once considered a practical shoe designed to provide grip on a wet deck has since seen a renaissance of sorts in the past few years. Boat shoes are making a comeback and in huge waves with the luxury fashion industry cashing in as well.
Boat shoes also have their own distinctive style; you can’t pair it with just anything. Picture the modern-day preppy look — a Ralph Lauren Polo tee or an Oxford shirt paired with some khakis. Throw on a pastel-toned sweater for good measure and make sure it’s draped around your shoulders for that “I-just-pledged-for-a-frat-I-can’t-pronounce” look.
But there is more to the look than just being preppy. Boat shoes are highly comfortable, which makes it great to walk in for hours on end. It’s also durable to many weather conditions, making it a pair that will last a lifetime when taken care of properly. Over the past decade or so, we’ve seen this trend skyrocket to where it is today.
