Inspired by the iconic childhood game, and the notion of getting lost in time itself, Hautlence introduces a new addition to its aptly named Playground collection: The Pinball. Modelled after a pinball machine, a lever on the watch’s right side literally sets the balls rolling, simultaneously setting the central star and spin-wheel in motion.
When the ball is expelled, the star and spin-wheel turn for 10 seconds, propelling the ball randomly against the various bumpers, along the in-lanes or on the dial — which is embellished with coloured transfers that indicate your score.
According to Hautlence CEO Sandro Reginelli, the Pinball model is symbolic of the brand’s philosophy. “Guided by the concept of infinity, we are broadening our range and pursuing our mission by exploring a whole new dimension of time display: It is about quite simply making time stand still, the better to appreciate it,” he said.
The Pinball model sports a base dial in grade 5 titanium, fitted with a sapphire intermediate dial. In keeping with its avant-garde approach to construction, the watch comes with a rectangular case decorated with alternating bead-blasted, polished and satin-finished surfaces.
It’s game over once the ball is blocked at the base of the dial, either in one of the apertures bearing points, or in the “garage” zone. Now, who knew telling the time could be such fun?
