Longines knows a thing or two when it comes to aviation — its Spirit collection of watches are a testament to it.

For as long as men have been flying, aviation watches have been a thing. At the forefront is Longines, one of the pioneers when it comes to creating pilot watches. Being the key instrument to many pilots like Amelia Earhart already says a lot about Longines as a watchmaker.

Longines Spirit
The Longines Spirit collection of watches are all about the heritage and history of aviation.

With the new Longines Spirit collection of timepieces, it’s a true testimony of its pioneering spirit. By pairing modern-day innovations with its rich history, these new pilot watches take traditional features to go with contemporary lines and codes. In total, there are four new watches in the Longines Spirit collection.

Three new hand/calendar models make up the bulk of the new release in both 40mm and 42mm. Lastly is the chronograph at 42mm, which comes in either a matte black, grained silver, or sunray blue dial. All watches will also feature the five-star stamp on the dial, which signifies the improvement and reliability of the brand’s movement.

Speaking of which, the Longines Spirit‘s elegance is only matched by its self-winding movements L888.4 and L688.4. It features silicone hairsprings to guarantee greater accuracy and longevity. Both calibres also have respectable power reserves — 64 and 60 hours respectively. Of course, it’s also worth mentioning that the calibres are chronometer-certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

There is also a ‘Prestige’ edition with three interchangeable straps (steel, leather, and NATO in brown leather). Aside from that, you can also choose between a steel bracelet or a leather strap in blue, light or dark brown.

Head over to Longines’ website for more info or better yet, head to one of their official outlets and check out the Spirit collection for yourselves.
