Versace’s latest watch collection is a tribute to its visionary founder

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic murder of Gianni Versace, the legendary designer who founded the international fashion powerhouse. His sister Donatella, who has headed up the company’s creative department since his death, decided to dedicate this year’s Spring/Summer collection to her brother.

The Milan Fashion Week this year saw all the supermodels who rode the fame train along with Versace, come out in full force. Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer etc all walked the runway in honour of their dear friend. The watches, themselves, certainly displayed the iconic Gianni style. Full of colour and boldly displaying the medusa, these designs are reminiscent of Vesace’s daring and poneering approach to fashion in 1990s.

Versace Shadov

A fierce timepiece, the Shadov watch features the Medusa as a centrepiece at 12 o’clock. The tonneau case, hexadecagonal bezel and exotic skin straps are adorned with studs. The contrast dial introduces a black external shade that transforms into the central colour — truly radiating with energy. The watch, powered by an ETA quartz movement is available in champagne or black IP steel and nine different colour variants.

Versace Glaze

The Glaze is a complex piece of engineering; a chronograph designed for men. The double case middle features a transparent glass whilst the outer case shows off the famous Greek Key engraving. The timepiece boasts several intricate details including a dodecagonal bezel featuring the tachymeter scale, a dial with a “herringbone” guilloché finish and a case back that indicates the edition number. The watch, powered by the Ronda 3540D quartz chronograph movement, is available in IP black, two tone bracelet strap or a vintage-effect leather strap.

The Tribute Edition

The Tribute Edition is a timeless V-Circle watch, that features the ‘Wild Baroque’ print from the Versace Spring Summer 1992 collection, transforming this
classic timepiece into a bold collector’s item. The Tribute Edition comes only in two 38 mm case versions, with a black and white intertwined V pattern on the dial. The Medusa and Versace logos are at 12 o’clock and the watch is powered by a Rondo quartz movement.

V-Flare

The V -Flare watch is a fresh, colourful style that doubles as a fashionable leather accessory. The straps come in a range of colour combinations: black and fuchsia, lilac and turquoise, light blue and dark blue, as well as black and yellow, and red and cobalt blue. The grid metal bracelet comes in IP Silver or gold whilst the petite circular case is featured in champagne or black IP steel. A precious version of the bracelet strap is also available with special diamond-shaped links and a diamond
encrusted bezel. The timepiece itself is powered by a Ronda quartz movement.

Palazzo Empire

The Palazzo Empire returns, with an unchanged iconic style. This season, it is a smaller size, with a 34 mm diameter case. The Medusa icon takes center stage, tone- on-tone Greek key engraving decorates the bezel and the guilloche sunray dial tone matches the leather strap. The watch is available in champagne or rose gold IP and this new Palazzo Empire comes in six colors — white, pale pink, light blue, burgundy, teal green and black. The Palazzo is powered by a Ronda quartz movement and is also available in a jewelry-inspired version with a semi-bangle bracelet in black and IP yellow gold finishing.
