Weir & Sons and Patek Philippe have been working together for 50 years. It hallmarks that occasion with a limited-edition run on its Annual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5905P.
Weir & Sons have been around since 1869 and are from Dublin, Ireland. The family-run jewellery store has always been the epitome of luxury goods in the city and it shows. Its latest collaboration alongside Patek Philippe commemorates its 50th anniversary of working with the Swiss luxury watchmaker.
This works out for Weir & Sons as well as Patek Philippe as both are family-run businesses. This goes to show the relationship they have with one another through the ref. 5905P. Its dressed in the vibrant honeycomb green, which was chosen by Weir & Sons to represent their proud Irish heritage. It’s flushed all over the alligator strap and dial with a pure platinum case to provide some contrast.
At its core is the renowned CH 28-520 QA 42H self-winding calibre with a power reserve of at least 45 hours. On the skeletal back, you will find Weir & Sons engraved on the top half of the dial with its 150th anniversary at the bottom half. You can also find Patek Philippe‘s seal on the timepiece, which is the brand’s way of ensuring that the highest standards of Swiss watchmaking are met. As mentioned earlier, the Annual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5905P. is a highly limited watch at only 25 units.
Of course, leave it to none other than ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor to snatch one up, which he did indeed flex on social media as well. The professional Irish MMA fighter is the very definition of Irish pride, showcasing his love for his nation on multiple occasions on the big screen. It’s also no secret that McGregor is one of the most famous names in sporting history, being the biggest pay-per-view draw in both UFC and MMA history.
