Mercedes-Benz completes its SUV range with 3 more models

Having a sporty coupé will always be stylish and sexy, but when it’s time to go on a trip with more than two persons, let’s be honest — it can get a little squeezy. Though often dubbed as ‘mom cars’, SUVs really are the best option if you tend to go on adventures with more than just one best friend. The Mercedes-Benz SUV range was recently expanded with the addition of two newly launched models, the GLC Coupé and GLS. The iconic and ever-recognisable G-Class also joins the club, making the range complete. Below, we take a closer look at the three newly-introduced models.

The GLC Coupé

Part coupé, part SUV — all around style and agility.

Who says an SUV can’t also be a coupé? Not Mercedes-Benz. The GLC Coupé is an exciting combination of agility and progressiveness. You’re sure to make a statement with this sexy crossover. From it’s AMG Line exterior, body-styling, diamond radiator grille and 20-inch AMG light alloy wheels to its AMG sports pedals and sports steering wheel, you’re definitely in for a sporty yet luxurious driving experience. This Coupé also features Dynamic Select with the 9G-Tronic Plus and Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, besides the ability to go from 0-100kph in 7.3 seconds.

The GLS 400

The premium SUV you’ve been looking for.

The GLS on the other hand is the flagship model of Mercedes-Benz SUVs. Luxury is combined with functionality and performance, then completed in style. The new GLS is the S-Class among Mercedes-Benz SUVs and boasts a formidable performance. On the outside, the GLS 400 features an AMG Line design and 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels while the interior is fitted with tech ranging from Apple CarPlay to a stunning Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround system. Extended Dynamic Select transmission modes are available, as is an enhanced damping system ADS and the nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. Powered by a V6 biturbo engine, the GLS 400 4Matic takes only 6.6 seconds to go from 0 – 100kph. The seven-seater is also spacious enough for seven adults to sit comfortably, and still has an impressive boot capacity of 2,300 litres.

The AMG G 63

The Godfather of all SUVs — Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

An unforgettable, iconic model, the G-Class is recognised as the original Mercedes-Benz SUV. One look at the timeless design and you’ll understand why its remained unchallenged over three decades. The brand proudly deems this luxury-class cross-country vehicle as The Godfather amongst their SUVs. Boasting a powerful AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine and the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic automatic transmission system, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 can accelerate from 0-100kph in a mere 5.4 seconds. Its timeless design comes from features such as the AMG radiator grille with dual lamellae and four chrome inserts, prominent bumpers with large air intakes, and fender flares while red brake callipers and 21-inch AMG forged wheels painted in matte black conclude the expressive exterior.
