If you’re looking for an art-themed hotel, this particular one located just outside the city is a testament to their serious affection for unbounded creativity. Not just another run-of-the-mill hole in the wall, this Parisian-chic hotel with its premium amenities is what defines Asian hospitality. You may have your doubts about the hype of Hôtel Vagabond based on its humble colonial-era façade, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
The hotel is a masterpiece of the French designer Jacques Garcia, his baroque aesthetic really adds a touch of extravagance to the glamour of the Lion City’s own boutique hotel, which makes it a true haven for artists. Furthermore, being the first ever local hotel to offer the Artist in Residence programme, Hôtel Vagabond is where you can get to marvel at the extensive art collections from around the world.
With 41 rooms and suites that cater to all preferences, Hôtel Vagabond is an ideal place for your culture fix that also warrants a remarkable stay while in Singapore. We checked in to the Deluxe Club and it was nothing less than excellent.
The concept of “stay independent” allows guests to take full advantage of Marriott International’s loyalty programme, Marriott Rewards, anywhere in the world.
Nestled within the vibrant district of Little India, Hôtel Vagabond is a well-kept secret. From here, we were introduced to the colourful heritage of the town that is filled with Art Deco buildings and preserved shop houses. It is also within walking distance to explore the Kampong Glam and Chinatown area.
As an art-driven boutique hotel, (its golden brass rhino receptionist set on the red velvet backdrop is evidence enough) Vagabond was created for soulful individuals. We were completely in awe of the golden ornaments that fill up this place, from the mesmerising Banyan tree to the monkey sculpture that resides at the bar.
The size of our Deluxe Club room is comfortable, one that wouldn’t leave you feeling claustrophobic, with interesting wall art. What we love most about the space is its calm ambience, complimented by a range of luxury features including a superior King-sized bed for a pleasant trip to slumber land, crystal glassware and extravagant Etro toiletries. The classic Robert Radio is like icing on the cake, the in-room playlists and complimentary entertainment fix really helped us to unwind at the end of the day.
Another highlight of the hotel is its luxurious Vagabond Executive Club Lounge for guests socialise while indulding in small bites and drinks while soaking in the spirit of their stay. Recently, guests are also welcomed to enjoy the house’s live music performed by local and international artists, three times a week.
The boutique’s rich cultural touches clearly illustrate the #independentmoments that make up Tribute Portfolio’s fame. Hence, if you are seeking one-of-a-kind experiences in Singapore, Hôtel Vagabond is where your journey begins.
