Journeying across land via train is no longer an uncomfortable hassle, but rather, promises to be an enjoyable, unforgettable experience. Belmond is a collection of iconic hotels, trains and river cruises worldwide, and the Belmond Grand Hibernian in Ireland joins the company’s iconic rail collection, together with the renowned Eastern & Oriental Express.
To make things even more special and luxurious than they already are, the luxury sleeper train is displaying a carefully curated collection of artworks by both emerging and prominent artists selected for their personal and unconventional view of Ireland and its landscapes. The collection is called “Inspirations of Ireland,” and was curated by Belfast-born international art consultant, Katie Kennedy Perez.
Comprising photographs, oil paintings and water colours, we love that the addition of these evocative artworks showcasing Ireland’s rich heritage, contemporary culture and dramatic scenery aims to enhance the emotional connection between guest, journey and destination. Now you can journey through the country via the art on display, as you enjoy your rail experience literally travelling the country.
Artists whose works are on display include Samuel Laurence Cunnane, Amelia Stein, Mick O’Dea, Dorothy Cross and Laurence Riddell. Each carriage is individualised by one artist and the creations are either on the walls of the en-suite cabins or at the public dining ‘Sligo’ and ‘Wexford’ carriages. There’s also a specially designed ‘Inspirations of Ireland’ booklet that you can bring home as a keepsake.
The train journey itself is a luxurious way to travel through Ireland and take in the scenery from a unique perspective. You have the option of choosing a two-, four- or six-nights journey all departing from Dublin, all of which will encompass the highlights of both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to explore ancient castles, spot rare wildlife, sample famous whiskies and visit the vibrant cities along the way.
Prices for this unique train journey start from RM15, 528 per person. For more information and to make your reservations, visit www.belmond.com.
