Airbnb ups the travel experience with the launch of Airbnb Luxe

Following the launch of Airbnb Plus just last year, the accommodation-sharing site has just announced the start of Airbnb Luxe, a whole new tier of bespoke luxury accommodations for the discerning traveller. The best part? Anyone can be a part of it.

Airbnb Luxe differs from the regular Airbnb experience in the sense that it gives users access to exquisite properties alongside dedicated trip designers to plan bespoke experiences and services. More than 2,000 homes are handpicked, each one going through a strict evaluation across more than 300 criteria including design standards and premium materials and finishes used in the homes.

It’s not just any regular luxury accommodation as well—some of these properties are worth travelling for. That includes The Fleming Villa in Jamaica, a beachfront villa where author Ian Fleming wrote his spy novels. Perhaps a villa to yourself may not be enough—will a whole island do, especially one that has its own self-declared time zone? Yes, it exists in the form of Nukutepipi, a private atoll in French Polynesia curated by the founder of Cirque du Soleil and Lune Rouge, Guy Laliberte. Other luxury accommodations include castles in France, historical villas in Tuscany, and award-winning homes in New Zealand and South Africa.

Once you’ve determined with Airbnb Luxe home you want to stay in, the service will give you access to a trained trip designer to ensure that your stay is tailored to your unique needs. That means coordinating your local bespoke activities, arranging for childcare, private chefs, in-house masseuses, and even personal training sessions when you feel that you can’t skip leg day.

“Today’s luxury traveller is craving more than just high-end accommodations; they seek transformation and experiences that leave them feeling more connected to each other and to their destination,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb Co-Founder, CEO and Head of Community.

“With Airbnb Luxe we are applying the same approach we’ve used since we launched Airbnb more than 11 years ago—creating local, authentic, and magical travel moments now in amazing places to stay—to reimagine the way people think and experience luxury travel.”
