The Lhaviyani Atoll is home to turquoise lagoons with thriving marine life, beautiful stretches of white sand beaches, and some of the Maldives’ most luxurious resorts. We can testify to this, since we spent close to a week at the beautiful Hurawalhi Maldives after all.
This year, Crown & Champa Resorts (the developers behind Hurawalhi) will open a sister property located just a five-minute boat ride from the five-star resort. Called Kudadoo Maldives Private Island, the property makes the perfect getaway for those looking for a more secluded slice of paradise in the Lhaviyani Atoll.
The adults-only private island, designed by internationally renowned architect Yuji Yamasaki, will boast 15 over-water residences located atop an aquamarine lagoon — each stylishly furnished with bleached wooden floors and private decks with hanging sofas and sun loungers, as well as an infinity pool that overlooks the Indian Ocean. What’s more, a section of the villa incorporates a glass floor which allows you to gaze at the sea life below.
Every villa at Kudadoo Private Island benefits from butler service, so guests can spend their beach vacation being attended to within the comfort of their residence. For dining, the private island boasts its own exclusive restaurant. Additionally, there is also an option to dine at Hurawalhi’s 5.8 Undersea Restaurant (the world’s largest all-glass restaurant under the sea), sea-view Aquarium Restaurant, or Canneli Restaurant — an inviting venue which focuses on international cuisine.
The heart of Kudadoo Private Island is The Retreat, which features large open spaces home to the restaurant, bar, wine cellar, infinity pool, gymnasium (with steam, sauna and Himalayan salt rooms), Duniye Spa, as well as an upper deck with conference facilities for corporate retreats or client meetings.
However, the highlight of Kudadoo is its natural landscape. It is located in the jaw-droppingly beautiful Lhaviyani Atoll, after all. Ocean lovers will get to experience close encounters with the atoll’s diverse marine life. Whether it’s racing with spinner and bottlenose dolphins on a private speedboat tour, swimming alongside giant turtles, or diving with manta rays in the Indian Ocean’s warm waters, Kudadoo boasts a myriad of activities for guests.
The resort, accessible by a scenic 40-minute seaplane ride from the Maldives’ main Velana International Airport, is set to open in September this year. Rates start from approximately S$2,550 per night.
