This is why all men should wear sunscreen everyday

A man’s grooming routine is incomplete without a tube (or bottle) of sunscreen. All the moisturiser in the world isn’t going to protect your chiselled face if you subject it to the intensity of our sun.

Newsflash: The sun is actually really harmful for our precious skin. The glowing ball of light up in the sky is responsible for a variety of skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma and melanoma. At the risk of sounding like a naggy parent, you shouldn’t be surprised at all, seeing as how often we are exposed to the Sun every day. Whether you’re in the car driving to work or reading a book on your balcony in the afternoon, your skin is routinely blasted by the harsh ultraviolet rays from space. The sun has no chill.

That’s where sunscreen comes into play. We’ve come a long way from when it was a sticky, oily substance applied only for a beach day. There are now varying levels of SPF that cater to how long you’ll need protection from the sun for. A higher number would mean fewer rays can penetrate through its barrier, but only marginally. Don’t believe anyone that tells you an SPF 100 sunscreen can last the entire day – it has to be consciously re-applied every two hours or so.

For example, those with fairer skin spending around two to three hours outdoors should opt for a sunscreen with SPF 50, while those with darker skin can afford to use a standard SPF 30 sunscreen as a daily driver. Another factor to look out for when shopping for sunscreens is the term “broad spectrum.” This means the product will protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays (most sunscreens only offer protection from UVB rays). There are also spray-on options for those seeking a bit more convenience.

To help you get started on your journey to even better skin, here are some of our sunscreen recommendations that you should start applying today.
