Beauty trends have gone two ways in 2017: towards redefined neutrals, like the boom over red-hued eyeshadow palettes, or they’ve cycled back to the nineties, with a particular inclination for all things shiny. Think of the loud, bright eyeshadow combinations that walked down the runways this year, flaunting more than enough shimmer to light a nation, or the seriously slick lip glosses that have been swiped off shelves. The driving force of it all is the fact that glitter makeup is back, and it’s really not going anywhere soon.

The one downside for glitter makeup is the perception that it isn’t wearable. Many think that bold shimmers are reserved for parties, or costumes, when it really isn’t the case. Before the West hopped on the beaming bandwagon, shimmery products have been a mainstay in East Asian cosmetics, especially Korean beauty, which is defined by its subtlety. Labels like Aritaum, Clio and Pony Cosmetics have perfected glittery cosmetics for everyday wear, ranging from palettes, to glosses and eyeliners. These moguls have set wearable glitter makeup in stone, so there’s no excuse for you to give this trend a miss.

We’ve scoured seven of the best products to get your bling on, while remaining corporate office-friendly, for the most part. Go on and add these to your shopping cart.

1
Stila Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadow

Stila’s liquid eyeshadow stormed through the beauty world and consistently sold out this year for good reason. It lives up to its name, swatching like liquid metal, with clear glitter pigments to add a healthy dose of sparkle. You can use it all over your lids, or for a more pared-down look, just along your lower lashline to make your eyes pop.

S$35.50. Available on Lookfantastic.

2
Pat McGrath Lust 004 Lip Kit

Pat McGrath is one of the key players responsible for bringing glitter back, and her lip kits had much to do with that. Each kit features a matte lipstick with a clear vinyl gloss to use as adhesive for the wearer to sprinkle on microfine glitter for an extremely sparkly lip look. Its perfect for parties, especially with the festive season coming, but the kit is forgiving enough with its six matte lipsticks in wearable shades that you can use on the daily too. You’re getting the best of both worlds.

S$250. Available on Net-A-Porter.

3
Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter in "Trophy Wife"

Fenty Beauty stole 2017, for sure. We’re still not over “Trophy Wife”, its glimmering, gold highlighter that swatches like an explosion of pure money on deeper skin tones. Its got enough glitter pigments to make you beam, but not so much that your cheeks look like disco balls.  This highlighter is also versatile — adapt it as an eyeshadow or dust it over a red lipstick for added oomph.

S$50. Available at Sephora.

4
Nars Man Ray Photogloss in "Muse"

Don’t let the bright gold hue of Nars’ “Muse” gloss turn you off. Applying it looks more like a wash of gold glitter on the lips, and less like you made out with Midas. Layer it on top of your favourite lip colour, or use it on bare lips to make them look fuller.

S$40. Available at Tangs.

5
3CE Pot Eyeshadow in "Delightful"

If you’re looking for a glittery eyeshadow that you can wear every day, then 3CE’s pot eyeshadows are your best bet. They’ve got a range of neutrals, and the shade, “Delightful”, a flushed rose with gold shimmer, is by far our favourite.

S$29. Available at Sephora.

6
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in "Punk Rock"

Yes, it’s a blue glittery eyeliner, and that doesn’t make it any less wearable than the other items on this list. Layer it under a black winged liner to add some flair to the pedestrian cat-eye, or run it under your lower lashline for some dimension to a neutral eyeshadow look. You can even dot some around your inner corners for a more daring highlight.

S$30. Available at Urban Decay.

7
Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Gloss in "Rebel Rebel"

This rosy lip lacquer with flecks of duochrome glitter is a colour-shifting beauty that’s subdued enough to wear during the day, but has enough drama to impress at night.

S$42. Available at Sephora.
