At the turn of each season, the amount of beauty products saturating the market tends to leave one gripped with serious fear of missing out (or FOMO), especially if you’re a beauty junkie. Spring/Summer’17 is upon us, and it’s D-day for new releases. While you may feel the need to gravitate towards products that are the subject of extreme hype on social media, publicity is never the true indicator of quality.

To help you navigate your way through all that’s coming out (and perhaps, to save some money), we’ve curated a list of tried-and-true beauty products at the top of the game this month that you should swipe your card for, if you must.

Zoeva Caramel Melange Eyeshadow Palette

Zoeva eyeshadows are criminally underrated. They tick all the boxes: extremely pigmented, barely any fall out, zero chalkiness and effortless blendability. They’ve hopped on the candy-themed train with their latest palette line, with each anchored in a comprehensive colour selection. A favourite is the Caramel Melange, a stunning blend of buttery warm-toned shadows with hints of mauve, gold and blackened plum — a trendy update on a neutrals palette. Make this your eyeshadow buy of the month.

Clinique Crayola Chubby Sticks

Clinique Chubby Sticks aren’t new to the market, but these blast to the past adaptations are, and way adorable too. Clinique has collaborated with Crayola to produce crayon skins in eight different colours, for both their sheer and intense formulations. If you’re looking for an everyday lip colour to pop on without having to stress about cracking or touch-ups, Fuzzy Wuzzy is a rich, cool taupe nude to try.

Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder

Kat Von D’s venture into expanding her base range has been met with much love, and the Lock-It Setting Powder is no exception. Formulated with micas, you get a powder that’s finely milled and velvety. Unlike setting powders that have a tendency to cake your face, this powder is one that lends a subtle sheen to your skin, compatible to a broad array of complexions.

Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow

Glittery eyeshadows (and we’re talking glitter chunks, not shimmer) are making a return, and Stila has joined in the sparkly situation with their latest liquid eyeshadows. These are packed with glitter pigments, perfect as lid toppers or an all-over explosion of shine. The finishes range from metallic for the darker colours, becoming more distinctly glittery the lighter you go. Get the gold, silver or rose gold hue to invest in something more versatile.

Available at Stila.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Lip Gloss

We can hear the groans of “Sweet Peach, again?” but this collection has been indubitably the centre of attention for the season. The reviews for most of the range are mixed, but if you have to purchase something from the line, try the Sweet Peach Lip Gloss. Infused with peach oil, these nude glosses are a creamy, milky lip gloss that also act as lip nourishers. Unlike your typical gloss, these are barely sticky, so don’t expect them to be extremely long-wearing.
