Ikea x Byredo, and other new beauty products we love in November 2020

We’re this close to Christmas, and boy have we got a ton of gifting ideas for you.

But before we get to the nitty gritties of festive shopping, we want to celebrate the second last month of the year (!) by putting our best faces forward. After all, we have been stuck behind face masks all year long, so this is our way of making the most of whatever’s left of 2020.

If you were looking to revamp your makeup kit, there’s plenty of new products that’ll put a sparkle in your eye (and on your face). Urban Decay, Gucci Beauty, and Chanel Beauty have started rolling out holiday-worthy products — think plenty of glitter and shimmer — that we can’t wait to sport. There are also new fragrances to express yourself with; Tom Ford, Byredo, and Chloé celebrate the best of nature with floral and fruity offerings that’ll leave you smelling remarkably fresh, even when your day stinks.

But there’s no faking healthy hair, so for that we’ve sussed out a hair supplement that’ll do what no conditioner or mask will do for you: Rebuild your tresses from deep within.

Here are the new beauty products in November that we love.

Crystals are undeniably one of the biggest trends this year, so much so that beyond jewellery and facial rollers, the healing stone has also inspired a whole new series from Urban Decay. Comprised of an eyeshadow palette, highlighter, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils, and lip gloss, the collection is a shimmery and iridescent dream that lends some serious sparkle — something we could all use today. Of the lot, the prismatic eyeshadow palette and highlighter stands out for being infused with genuine tourmaline — one of the most naturally colourful crystals in the world.

Formulated with a team of biochemists in New Zealand, Skin Reset has reached cult status around the world for being scientifically proven to outperform even the most recognised and luxurious vitamin C and brightening products on the market.

This clean beauty treatment repairs lacklustre skin and hyper-pigmentation with a potent blend of plant stem cells, phytonutrients, fatty acids, and brightening vitamins to repair and even the skin’s complexion, all while minimising visible signs of skin ageing. As a true all-natural label, every product has also been designed with the intention of being refillable, recyclable or compostable.

We’ve preached the importance of good nutrition for healthy hair, but if you’re just too busy for your five-a-day, this supplement has all the essential nutrients required to turn your distressed tresses around. The drug-free proprietary blend includes Tocotrienol, Tripeptide Collagen, Saw Palmetto Berries, Keratin Forte, and Biotin — all essential nutrients that reverse free-radical damage to the scalp while stimulating hair growth.

Sure you can do a mean cat-eye with this, but that’s not what it was really designed to do. Instead, this trident-shaped tool was designed to fill in the spaces between each lash to fake a fuller effect, giving voluminous lashes without falsies, eyelash extensions, or even mascara. The quick-drying formula has great staying power and can be used to tightline both the top and bottom lashes for more defined peepers, sans the heavy duty makeup.

For days when you’re in a rush, Chanel’s latest makeup-meets-skincare product has been made to not only boost your skin’s radiance on the outside, but also keep it protected within. The latest to join the Sublimage line is a serum-like foundation that lends a halo-like glow while evening out the complexion with a sheer finish, all while  antioxidant-rich Vanilla Planifolia water and enfleurage oil work their magic for supple, hydrated skin. The six shades have been developed specifically for the Asian market.

Chloé sees a new chapter in its olfactory story this year with Atelier des Fleurs, a collection of nine single-note fragrances that have been dreamt up by six renowned perfumers with a little help from their most precious memories.

Designed to be worn alone or combined — just like a bouquet of flowers, the series includes divine florals such as Damask rose, mimosa blossoms, and lavender. Be your very own florist and tailor the fragrances to match the occasion or mood of the day. Our favourite? The Magnolia Alba, for its ability to evoke sunny days in England with its captivating mix of freshness and creamy sweetness from magnolia petals.

Available at Takashimaya Department Store, and Sephora ION and Ngee Ann City.

Just in time for Christmas too. Gucci Beauty has made plenty of waves for its decadently packaged scarlet lipsticks, so imagine the glamour to be had when glitter is added to the equation. Three new iridescent shades — Agatha Orange, Vantine Fuchsia, and Madge Red Rouge — have joined the lip line, each infused with different glitters to create a smile that could light up any room.

Now available at Gucci Beauty counters at BHG, Takashimaya, Tangs and Sephora ION, and on sephora.sg and tangs.com.

The latest addition to Tom Ford’s high-end Private Blend fragrance collection promises to be just as sensual and evocative as the previous fragrance in the line, Lost Cherry. Expect the juicy scent of pêche de vigneto be paired with fresh notes of Sicilian blood orange and the warm spiciness of cardamom. Davana oil is then infused with rum and cognac, Indonesian patchouli, and vanilla to create a complex fragrance that’s addictive, rich, and youthful.

For when you don’t wake up with that natural glow, Chanel has got you covered with its ‘discretely radiant’ glow stick. Unlike powder highlighters, this moisturising balm melts into the skin for a healthy, fresh-faced look that only eight hours of sleep and a ton of vitamins could do. It’s especially easy for those new to the world of highlighting; simply swipe across your cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and cupid’s bow and blend with your fingertips for a natural glow.

No word yet on when this collection is coming to town, but we haven’t been this excited since Virgil’s “Wet Grass” rug hit the furniture giant’s megastores. However, these 13 babies are still available on Ikea’s US site if you can’t wait. Playing on the emotions evoked with the smell of ‘home’, these scented candles run the gamut from fresh and floral to woody, with scents such as Peach Blossom and Bamboo, Firewood and Spice, and Tobacco and Honey to look forward to.
