Urban Decay is not a brand that does pink. At least, that was the image the brand conveyed across its 22-year legacy, where it actively carved out a territory for itself in the makeup industry with bold, electric shades that were the antithesis of soft and feminine.
This Spring/Summer 2018, however, Urban Decay has broadened its colour story to create a limited edition product that pays homage to the most pervasive pink of them all — the dusty rose that millennials adore. Inspired by the muted, rosy-mauve hue of its bestselling Vice Lipstick of the same name, the Urban Decay Backtalk palette has officially launched in Singapore, and it is slated to become one of our favourites this season.
As a two-in-one, travel-ready palette, the Backtalk palette is created with eight eyeshadow shades on one side, and four blush and highlighter shades on the other. In line with their monochromatic approach, both sides feature a graduation of pinks, from pale to deep.
The fact that the powders are all pink in some way should not detract you or make you believe it is harder to create looks. In fact, the uniformity allows every single shade in the Backtalk palette to work seamlessly with another. You don’t have to stress out over blending or trying to figure out what shade goes with which — it’s all pretty in pink, and so easy to work with. With its mix of vibrant metallic and subtle matte hues, you also have a perfect palette that can take you from day to night.
The Urban Decay Backtalk Palette will launch 26 April 2018 at all Sephora stores and from 10 May at all Urban Decay boutiques in Singapore. It is currently available for pre-order online at S$76.
