While Singapore doesn’t get to appreciate the shift in seasons, we at least get to revel in the arrival of fresh brands and products docking on our shores. Fashion is the most recognised, for one, but beauty comes a close second, what with the legion of brands arriving in major retailers like Sephora at the turn of the year. This Fall/Winter 2019 is no different.
We were recently at Sephora’s bi-annual press day to experience what these new beauty brands have to offer. With that, we bring you a round-up of all the hot debuts in the skincare and makeup realm you can expect in the coming months.
The Inkey List is determined to deliver the skincare ingredients everyone knows and loves in the most pared-down way possible. There are 15 total products in the range, each designed with minimal elements to support the hero ingredient — think retinol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and the like — at a price point that is extremely wallet-friendly too.
You’ve seen the Instagram ads proliferate your feed and now, the brand finally debuts in Singapore. Sand & Sky are the makers of the famous pink Australian clay mask touted to minimise blemishes, oil and pores dramatically with use. Aside from clay, the mask also includes native Australians botanicals that help nourish the skin, and lactic acid to exfoliate.
All-natural, organic beauty products are in right now as the industry attempts to shift towards greater sustainability and to provide consumers with products that are better and cleaner, if you will, for the skin. The latest green beauty label to enter Singapore is American brand Bioassance, which stands out from your run-of-the-mill organic cosmetics brand because it marries biotechnology with natural raw materials to create effective skincare products. All of its items contain 100 per cent plant-derived squalene, and ultra-hydrating ingredient that fortifies the moisture barrier of the skin, making Bioassance’s wares perfect for those with dry and dehydrated complexions.
Bybi Beauty was founded by two beauty bloggers in 2017. With the determination to create a brand that users can trust to be cruelty-free, vegan and fully sustainable, this skincare brand has dramatically expanded in two years and has now arrived in Singapore. Bybi Beauty’s bestsellers tend to be its skin boosters, so pick one up from them when they debut in stores. They offer boosters that brighten, soothe and calm the skin, made from 100 per cent natural ingredients. They are even bringing in a CBD + hemp oil booster to Singapore, which touts anti-inflammatory properties.
Frank Body pioneered the coffee body scrub way back, and has since taken their brand to completely new heights with a full skincare and budding cosmetics line. Beyond variations of their coffee body exfoliants, they’ve also got skincare products for the face and body that come infused with coffee, and nourishing balms for the lips that feel and smell divine.
