Here’s how you can raise awareness for breast cancer with Estée Lauder

25 years ago, Evelyn H. Lauder went on a personal mission to raise awareness on an epidemic that swept across the world silently to plague millions of women. The result was the Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign (now known more simply as The Breast Cancer Campaign), and the start of an insignia that’s now become synonymous with the cause: pink ribbons. A year later, she took that effort one step further to set up the non-profit Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to generate funding that would go entirely into research for a cure.

25 years is a long time to remain committed to a project, but Estée Lauder has shown no signs of slowing down. Quite the contrary, since the storied cosmetics house is poised to celebrate the campaign’s anniversary and honour Lauder’s legacy by putting together a line-up of activities in Singapore.

Kickstarting the good cause is the ‘Breast Cancer Puzzle’, a digital mural that highlights the attributes that are fundamental to the campaign: Beauty, Courage, Confidence, Fearlessness and Hope. Five local female artists have also teamed up create the “Your Body Is Your Victory’ mural, a collective expression through a variety of mediums that encourage a new perspective on Rethink Pink. The creativity continues as these artists also create exclusive artworks that will be featured in a month-long roving exhibition at Singapore landmarks, and an auction to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Of course, Estée Lauder wasn’t going to let you look frumpy while you participated in the good cause. In support of the Breast Cancer Awareness’ 25th anniversary, some of the most prominent cosmetic brands under the group have also banded together to raise funds with special edition products.

Meanwhile, Estée Lauder’s famous Advanced Night Repair will also — for the first time — come in a limited edition metallic pink bottle, and with a themed charm keychain. For the full works, the Pink Ribbon Knockout Eyes Collection consists of a full-sized Knockout Mascara, eyeshadow brush, and mini Double Wear Eye Pencil, alongside an exclusively designed makeup bag.

Clinique continues its annual collectible Jumbo Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ series this year with a bottle that comes with a Clinique key ring charm set. Amongst the saccharine-sweet tassels is a pink ribbon to remind you of the cause while you get your glow on.

La Mer — the cult brand that’s responsible for the legendary Crème de la Mer — will roll out a specially decorated jar with a hot pink logo, while Origins continues to support the Drink Up franchise with a limited edition Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask packaging.

All of these companies will contribute a significant amount to The Estée Lauder Breast Cancer Campaign from sales of these products, and they can be purchased online or at their respective beauty counters nationwide.
