Marc Jacobs casting call: 5 beauty vloggers to consider

Here’s your chance to be a campaign star, for Marc Jacobs’ #CastMeMarc is back! Remember the last time when Marc by Marc Jacobs actually cast Singaporean Nadia Rahmat, in its Spring/Summer 2016 campaign (hello, #SGpride)? Well, this time, the American brand is looking specifically for beauty vloggers for an upcoming #BeautyMarc video series.

Marc Jacobs made this announcement with a video posted on its Instagram, which featured drag queen, Dan Donigan aka Milk, whom also starred in its Spring/Summer 2016 campaign alongside Bette Midler and Sandra Bernhard.

Wanna be on top? Open to vloggers worldwide, all you have to do is post a video on Instagram with the hashtag #CastMeMarc, telling Marc (the man himself) what inspires you in beauty and fashion. You also have to be above 18 years old. Ten finalists will be chosen and flown to New York in January 2017 to record a beauty video in front of a team of judges, and the legendary Marc Jacobs will select the top three to be part of the #BeautyMarc video series. The competition ends on 5th December, 2016. (11:59 PST).

While you’re getting your Instagram post ready, here are five beauty vloggers that we think Marc Jacobs should have a look at, or you could probably look to for inspiration.

Violet Chachki

Like Milk, Violet Chachki (aka Paul Jason Dardo) starred in Rupaul’s Drag Race, an American reality competition series in search of the next drag superstar. Also a burlesque dancer and model, Chachki was crowned the winner of the seventh season of the show. Having taken drag as her creative career, she constantly pushes boundaries in the looks she creates.

Miss Fame

With a YouTube viewership of 17,664,746, and 382,700 subscribers (as of 1 December, 2016), Miss Fame (aka Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen) is a drag queen, model, makeup artist, and recording artist based in New York. Quite a charmer when the makeup comes off, Miss Fame shot to international fame when Leland Bobbé photographed her for Vogue Italia in 2012.

Kandee Johnson

Possibly one of the best beauty gurus of the YouTube world, Kandee Johnson started out as a makeup artist until her grandparents gifted her a video camera. That led her to launch a channel featuring makeup transformations, beauty hacks, and tutorials. We’d like to think that she’s the kind of person who’d win hands-down at Halloween every year. Here’s how to look like both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton at once, if you’re keen.

Tabitha Nauser

You may know her as a DJ at a local radio station, or one of the finalists on Singapore Idol sometime back, but we think that she has got what it takes to be a #BeautyMarc star. With an envy-worthy bone structure and Kylie Jenner vibes, Tabitha Nauser is pretty experimental when it comes to hair and beauty looks.

Christabel Chua

Christabel aka @bellywellyjelly may seem like your regular all-in-one (fashion, beauty, lifestyle…everything) blogger and vlogger, but that also sets her apart from other beauty vloggers. With a climbing subscriber-ship of 23,922 (as of 1 December, 2016), her tutorials are highly relatable and light-hearted. We say watch out for this local girl. After all, Marc Jacobs is known to make ordinary people into the biggest of stars.
