The past week has seen many exciting developments unfold. The first, of course, was the Singapore launch of the highly anticipated Google Home, which could be purchased from brick-and-mortar stores from 20 April onwards. Naturally, we had to get our hands on one, and you can read all about our experience here.

Another topic that has generated much discussion — and divided opinions everywhere — was the release of the official trailer for Crazy Rich Asians. For the uninitiated, the movie is based on a book of the same name, which delves into the world of ultra-wealthy Singaporean families. Interspersed with shots of Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, and the city skyline, the trailer showcased scenes of extravagant parties, and stylish people decked out in glamorous designer garb. There has been some controversy, with critics citing the lack of Singlish in the film and how it’s an inaccurate portrayal of day-to-day life in Singapore. For us, we’re just happy to see a Hollywood movie (that isn’t about kung fu) with an all-Asian cast, and can’t wait to watch it when it’s released on 22 August.

In other movie news, the much-awaited Avengers: Infinity War has finally opened in cinemas here. We don’t want to spoil the film for you, so all we’re going to say is that it’s pretty epic, and you should catch it this weekend.
