The Cheat Sheet: Gucci, Court Martial Bar and healthy food

The past week came and went so quickly, because we were all caught up with the Lunar New Year celebrations. But we’re actually relieved that the festive season is almost over. While we enjoyed stuffing our faces with pineapple tarts and collecting red packets, rushing from house to house to visit relatives was pretty exhausting. Not to mention the much-dreaded inquisition regarding our career and relationship status, from said relatives.

With that behind us, we can look forward to spending this weekend on other activities. There’s the newly opened Gallery10, a digital space in the National Museum of Singapore that features a video installation by local multidisciplinary artist Sarah Choo Jing. If that’s not enough, there are also several other art exhibitions taking place around our little red dot. For those more inclined towards indulging in a sumptuous meal, this year’s first instalment of Art at Curate launches tomorrow. The event showcases chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and, for its February edition, is headlined by Japanese chef Masayasu Yonemura of Restaurant Yonemura (Kyoto).

And if you’re still out of ideas about what to do this weekend, here are some stories to give you inspiration. You can stop by the new Court Martial Bar for cocktails, pick up a customised bag or two at Gucci’s ION Orchard store, and — to make yourself feel less guilty about all your CNY snacking — attempt to eat a little healthier.

Now that the Chinese New Year celebrations are mostly over, we no longer have an excuse to feast without restraint. Time to embark on a healthier diet and lifestyle.

We recently visited the new Court Martial Bar at JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, and had some seriously delicious margaritas rimmed with black salt. Check out our review here.

Style

The DIY corner in Gucci’s ION Orchard store.

Gucci’s new ION Orchard store is a beautifully furnished space with soft pink walls, vintage rugs and velvet armchairs. We particularly dig its DIY corner, where customers can customise their own Dionysus bag and Ace sneakers.

Jewellery

Chopard’s The Garden of Kalahari necklace.

At Paris Haute Couture Week, Chopard launched its spectacular, diamond-encrusted The Garden of Kalahari high jewellery collection. We can’t take our eyes off this necklace.

If you’ve ever imagined how Bali looked like before massive tourism took place, Nusa Lembongan is probably it. A gem off the east coast of Bali, the paradise island is a great destination for beach bums, surfers and divers — with gorgeous sunsets and amazing surf breaks. Click here for more travel tips.
