Anyone worth their irons would know the name Sergio Garcia, but the Spaniard and US Masters champion is now a household name on local shores too, after surging to victory at the SMBC Singapore Open 2018 last weekend.

Held at the scenic Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, the prestigious US$1 million (S$1.32 million) event was also the season-opening tournament on both the Asian and Japan tours, giving Garcia the confidence booster he needed for another year of milestones. Of course, it wasn’t without a fight — his opponents included fellow Major winner Louis Oosthuizen and recurring Japan Tour winner Ryo Ishikawa. Guests of the SMBC Singapore Open 2018 were not only treated to a thrilling battle between the titans, they also enjoyed a comfortable sanctuary away from the heat at the Legends Lounge, where Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa provided a decadent feast alongside champagne and Singleton’s Single Malt whisky.

The night before was equally memorable, where the golfing legends joined guests at the Tee Off Cocktail at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa. Besides celebrating the start of the golf season, a charity auction of memorabilia such as a framed Green Jacket and golf bag autographed by Sergio Garcia helped raise funds for the Arc Children’s Centre.

If you missed the event, here’s everything that went down at the SMBC Singapore Open 2018.
