More than a decade ago, Jack Johnson released Better Together, a song that charted the indescribable pleasure of a perfect pairing. The whole is better than the sum of its parts, if you will. While Johnson crooned about a romantic relationship in the ballad, The Macallan recently taught us that this saying can also be applied to the union of whisky and music.
The brand isn’t just talking about listening to your favourite song while having a glass of whisky. The Macallan has literally combined both whisky and music by creating the one-of-a-kind Double Cask Guitar with craftsman Philippe Dubreuille. As the name suggests, the guitar is made entirely out of the wood used to mature The Macallan Double Cask, and a shot of the 12-year-old also finds itself embedded in the instrument’s body.
To celebrate this unique feat, The Macallan threw a launch party at Zouk’s Capital, starring local indie artist, Gentle Bones. Singer Joel Tan performed four songs, including his new single, White Noise. Tan performed the song with the Double Cask Guitar, treating guests to a visual and auditory spectacle.
Here’s what went down that night.
