The biggest news of this week was undoubtedly the announcement that the second edition of the Michelin Guide Singapore will be revealed on 29 June. The award ceremony looks set to be a lavish affair that can rival last year’s, with five celebrated chefs coming together to create a special dinner menu to be served alongside the proceedings. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that our favourite restaurants make the list. Who knows, we might even see a few more hawker stalls snagging the coveted stars this year.
Another upcoming highlight is tomorrow’s official opening of Apple Orchard Road, which is Singapore and Southeast Asia’s first Apple Store. Located at Knightsbridge mall, the store is a minimalist chic space with an all-glass façade. We recently stopped by for a preview — find out more about the store here, and scroll down for a peek at its sleek interiors.
Other activities to keep us busy for the weekend include catching tonight’s One Championship mixed martial arts match, and English musician Sting‘s gig on 28 May. If these aren’t enough for you, we also recommend feasting on rice dumplings, visiting the beautiful Atlas bar, and completing your summer ensembles with some snazzy new shades.
The Dragon Boat Festival falls on 30 May, which means it’s time to start ordering our rice dumplings. From a sambal chilli-infused option, to a sweet and savoury concoction filled with nian gao, here are 5 dumplings to try this season.
We’re very much in love with Atlas bar’s Art Deco-styled interiors, which remind us of The Great Gatsby and the opulence of the Roaring Twenties. Its extensive repertoire of gin-based drinks doesn’t disappoint, either. Read our review here ahead of your next visit.
